Roof Repair vs Roof Replacement
How to think about the decision between fixing what's there and starting again.

Deciding between a repair and a full replacement usually comes down to the extent of the damage, the age of the roof, and how the cost of repeated repairs compares to a one-off replacement.
A repair makes sense when the damage is localised and the rest of the roof is in reasonable condition — a handful of slipped tiles, a section of failed flashing, or an isolated leak.
Replacement becomes the more sensible option when a roof is old enough that further sections are likely to fail soon after a repair, or when the cost of successive repairs starts to approach the cost of a new roof.
An honest contractor should be willing to recommend a repair even when a replacement would be more profitable for them — that's the standard MCG works to.
